    The Force Awakens

So, despite myself, I'm actually interested. Don't have tickets this week, but maybe next or the weekend after. Anybody making aggressive choices to fight the crowds opening weekend?

I've seen it twice now and thought it was great!

The actress playing Rey really did an amazing job. So good~!!

I thought JJ did a pretty great job.He certainly recaptured the feel of Star Wars. It hit all the right notes, even if it wasn't full of new ideas. I'm hoping Rian Johnson's Episode VIII will end up being a bit more creative, but it certainly doesn't diminish my enjoyment of the movie.

What are your guys thoughts on the differences between Legends and Canon? They are pretty much remaking the stories that have been written. I feel it strange though that, as Nolan said, there aren't a lot of new ideas in this one. Too many coincidences from the other films. I know JJ wanted the less writing is more approach which allowed the actors to act, but I feel like there was a missing flow to the movie. It can be summarized in about 3-4 scenes. Surely better than the other SW movies if you re-watch them (man, we had imagination back then), but it lacks continuity from each of the scenes.

So, yeah, I wasn't expecting an adaptation of the Thrawn trilogy, but you can color me surprised that the part of the EU they chose to keep was basically merging Jacen Solo and fuckin' Kyp Duron.
