Multi Monitor Setups and GPU requirements

As it stands now I'm using a Samsung 21.6" LCD monitor with a native resolution of 1680 x 1050 - I've had this monitor for over 4 years now.

There are no issues at all with the monitor but a few months back at work I went to a multi monitor setup and I love it and want it at home as well.

So I'm looking to get two 23-24" monitors with a native resolution of 1920 x 1080. Does anyone have much experience gaming on two monitors? Anyone have any suggestions for a bezel size or any monitors they know of with a small bezel?

Also with my GPU, I currently have a fairly good GPU but it's pretty darn old - AMD Radeon 5870. At this point I'm not really interested in going crossfire with a 3 year old GPU, so do you think the GPU can handle two monitors or will I need to upgrade?

You really need three for proper gaming purposes, or else you have a line down the middle of your screen, it's still nice to have that setup for doing other non-gaming things though.

Ya I know the whole bezel right in the middle of the screen with two monitors is no good at all. For most purposes would probably keep the second screen for multi tasking, but for certain games having two screens can be pretty nice - for maps or whatever.

The only games that generally allow for multi-mon are simulators and FPSes (that have customizable FoV).

I have a pair of Samsung 24" and I just don't find I ever need any more screen real-estate than I have. Also, having diagnosed myself as ADD, I just love having another monitor on the side with "other" things going - web pages or work.

Tass pretty much hit the nail on the head. Some FPS let you see to the left and right with a 3 monitor setup, its the same view as if looking left or right from the cockpit and watching the screen scroll without actually having to scroll. I typically run with just one monitor on the game and say a website or something like that on the other. For LoL I normally have a build up on the non game screen. Will your gfx card work? Sure, you can actually do eyefinity 3 monitor with your card if you wanted to.

I've got a 3 monitor setup , and tbh would be fine with just going back to 1 . Its nice to have a super desktop , but gaming wise , the only time I really ever used it was playing BF3. Racing games it was pretty cool as well . Your video card will be able to hand 2 monitors without any issue . 2 monitors is nice to have one game full screened , and another window to browse / vent / doing something else in another window.
