It was obvious no one was trying that game...

Sharks / Rangers in the cup finals.. those were my future picks at the start of the season. If you end up playing the Sharks then I don't think they'll get past the first round. If you are against the Wild though I think you'll dominate them. Flames did well against the Wild this season.

sharks have the cup, i wont even choose a team in the east because of how pathetic it is this year.

i love my habs, but when theyre first in the conference, it may be in part cuz were sick, but alot mmust be credited to the shittyness of everyone else.

actually, our win ratio during the regular season is the same against the sharks(3-1) as it is against the wild(6-2), im confident if the flames can minimize Thortons role they'll win this series.. It's going to be a tight one none the less, but I say Calgary wins it in Game 7.

But the Sharks only have to contain Iginla.

Thorton isn't the only player on the Sharks who get points (he was my first pick in my hockey pool though), he is just an amazing setup man. On the flames though.. after Iginla it's a pretty big dropoff.

i wont lie, Iggy is quite the anchor on the team, but the last two maybe even three times Iggy was knocked out of the line up the rest of the team has proven to perform rather well in his absence, i dont know what can be said about a thorton absence to be honest though.. im nervous about Michalek and Cheechoo though. however, Daymond Langkow is an extremely solid player and is quite a threat himself. And you cant deny the sheer physical presence Phaneuf/Regehr though im quite iffy on Huselius, who is capable of undressing most players with the best of them, he fails short of his toughness... not nough grit to be 'the man' in the playoff's thus far..

im just willing to put more money on my Flames, not out of Bias (although that is just a bonus) but mainly because i personaly believe the Flames have a more well rounded team, an ernest desire to not get knocked out round 1 again, a better #1 man (in that Iginla does it all, where thorton has a mountain of offensive skill and can use his defensive skills extremely well, i think Iggy is much more of a "lunchbox worker"-of-a-player which comes out on top of player like Thorton in the playoffs... dont forget that is was your own Trevor Linden who said that not only was Iginla probably one of the more classy players in the league, he is probably the best in the league :P).... and a hope nabokov breaks his knee.

p.s. fun fact! #2 team's in the playoffs have been knocked out extremely early for last 2-3 years more than any other set of years.. which doesn't amount to alot of anything significant, but its just something i want to point out in favour of my team :P

Even though Nabakov has been amazing in net for the Sharks I'd probably give the nod to Kipper even though he is ugly as fuck.

The key for the Sharks has been the pickup of Campbell though.

Just for shits since no one else will talk hockey with me.

hahah i'll play your game Ghost... i guess i outta re-name the thread too :P
Yeah Campbell was an all-star addition to the team, but i only figure that evens up the match-up now... if it wasn't for his presence and contributions on-ice, i would totally one side this competition to my hometeam, but his ass had to ruin things =[.
a consolation in my favour i have is that the Sharks have had more one-goal games than the flames, which if you want to play this by pecentage, the Flames have won more one-goal games.. then again, thats *almost* a statistic like trying to cheer the oilers on by having the most OT shoot-out wins... =/

    West:

    Detroit
    Calgary
    Colorado
    Anaheim

    Calgary
    Anaheim

Calgary (ok... round 3 pick was a bit of bias :P)

    East:

    Montreal
    Pitt's
    Washington
    NY: Rangers

    NY: Rangers
    Pitt's

    NY: Rangers

Finals: not going to happen.... the Rangers or Flames wont make it to the finals now since i said they would =/

EDIT: it wont allow me to change the name of the thread on the thread list =[
P.S. yeah, kipper is ugly, but his wife is HOTTT

Detroit, San Jose, Anaheim and Wild (too bad love the retro avalanche)

Habs, Pens (hope the team plane goes down over the ocean), Philly, and rangers...

i think the flames are the toughest ones for the sharks to be playing but SJ is too deep...

Brodeur is the only chance the devils have, i like the rangers but that will be a tough series

Rangers can't beat Pittsburgh. Anyway, my Flyers are gonna get to the conference finals probably against Pittsburgh or Montreal and it will be a 7 game series. Then San Jose will win the cup.

Rangers can't beat pitts but the Flyers will take either of them to 7 games?

Stars crushed the Ducks in the first round. Four power play goals and a shutout by Turco, his third playoff shutout.

ehhh we totally got outplayed last game, it was horrible undiciplined play on our part... we spent over half the 2nd period alone in the box. this one isnt over either, home ice plays an advantage and it was nice to steal one from the hottest team in the nhl in the first game on their turf.. i think Calgary's ability to create the right match ups on home ice will be a difference maker on sunday and tuesday. i can rely on Kipper to stand on his head though if all else fails.

Name one team in the eastern conference right now who can survive 7 games of physical, balls to the wall, target-bashing hockey.

Just because the Flyers had a ton of suspensions because of goonery doesn't mean they play every game like that.

Like I said though I think they will beat Washington in the series, but that goal by Ovie and that celebration - priceless.

    Ranger$ dominating the Devils too.

Anyone else worried about the Boston upset. I feel like they outplayed the habs in the last 2 games

Not going to lose hope! Rooting for philly because I would much rather play them in second round than anyone else.

i can, and i find it hilarious when people find it wierd that calgary can play great hockey. It's the on/off tendencies that my team has that stops it from becoming an elite club... all the elements are there, but they cant consistantly buck-up like they need to. Kipper is a MUCH better goalie than CuJo but he had probably the worst game of his career last night, i think it was like 3 goals on 5 shots.. which i hope proves to other people that the Flames don't need a stand-on-his-head goalie to be a great team they just need solid performance from every department with the good talent we have in goaltending, d-men and forewards alike.

also: the epic hit on Marleau was probably the most important hit of the first round hands down thus far.

WOW game 4 was only a replay of what we played in game 3... the winning team losing to itself...... fuck, game 5 was BAD... like we outplayed them, but the team fucked themselves over... really, what were they doing or trying to prove? the flames were fucking pathetic especially for the position it's in and dealing with the sharks the way they did..... they shoulda been fired up, they shoulda responded to the sharks like they were wounded kittens... FUCKING DISGRACFUL FLAMES. FUCKING DISGRACFUL.

Dallas crushed the Ducks in the final period of game 6, the clincher.

The cherry on top was Mike Modano's open net goal.

    Adios, defending Stanley Cup Champions...

I went to the B's game saturday night. That was amazing! One of the more electric crowds i've ever been in. You can actually see me on NESN after Lucic's goal. Anyway, two huge games for me tonight (Flyers and Bruins are my favorite teams).

Nobody has seen electric until you've been to montreal for the playoffs. Every game sold out, even regular season and some pre-season and the crowd is absolutely ridiculous. Game 1 I had goosebumbs for the first 20 min.

Going downtown to watch the game, if we win will join in on the celebrations taking place in the streets. If we lose I will join the riot and mybe loot myself a new TV :P

    hockey sucks.

I know that this is a wee bit off topic for this thread but i just saw and and needed to add my opinion. But first I must say that I live an hour south west of toronto, have lived here 24 years and used to be an avid leafs fan but honestly TSN and sports channels in Canada in general have ruined hockey for me. They just shove it down your throat so much its like "all i want is a basketball hilight and i get stuck with 25 minutes of a 30 minute show watching hockey" ...

    I CAN'T WAIT FOR ESPN!!!

Riot in the streets was priceless. I got shoved by the riot police as they were blocking off st-catherine between peel and guy i think it was (for those who live in montreal). We left downtown before people set the cars on fire.

Partying in the streets is fine but setting cop cars on fire is ridiculous. Most of the people causing problems weren't even fans they just knew they could get away with vandalism because of crowds. This is probably going to ruin any chance we had for awesome celebrations after upcoming wins.

Glad we are playing phili because I am very very scared of the Rangers.
