    LCD vs Flat Screen CRT: which to chooose?

    Guys, at work we are getting free PC's...yes I know your jealous, but I need some advice on the monitor, here is my current system at home. I am giving my new PC to my brother so he can game better.

    I have a:
    P4 2.8 GHz 800 FSB Proc
    MSI NEO-LSR2 (mid level board on the neo line)
    Radeon 9500 (with soft mod, but I am going to swap the 9800 pro outta the free system and put it in mine)

    Should I go ahead and get a 20 inch LCD or should I get an equivalent CRT w/ flat screen.

    The choices I have are on Dell's website, so if there is a particular LCD they offer that you believe is the right one, let me know. I'm debating about whether I want to replace the 21" or just do dual monitor

    Also I have all of Initial D on CDs. I love that anime.

    sharper text, easier on the eyes, saves ALOT of space, easy to carry/move, enhances the look of your work environment

    dont let the opinions of hardcore gamers deter you. the quality of the image difference is very small if you get good LCD's from CRT screens. plus, its a work screen yes? why would you want a CRT which most gamers prefer for gaming?

    Ok...LCD...now can you offer which one I should get? Does anyone have any experience with the Dell LCD's? Ultrasharp is the line.

    I have no idea what I am going to do with my current 21 inch monitor though hehe

    I just got them from RMI... I put them on my profile and then right click/properties.. copied that link and did [.img]link[/.img]

    Doesnt save much space for your OWN pictures on your profile.. but who cares.

    And some of these smartasses around here will claim you paid them to sign for you or some other stupid ass comment and it gets old in about 2 posts... I'm about ready to take mine down :?

    Though it's true that LCD is easier on the eyes, I've always been told that CRT is still better at gaming. Something about refresh rates and LCD technology not being around as long as CRT. Anyways, if you gonna be carrying it around a lot, go with LCD, but if it's going to sit in same place, CRT is cheaper for what you get quality wise.

    I think you need to just watch what you are getting. I have the DELL ULTRASHARP 2000FP 20" FLAT PANEL LCD and I love it. It kicks the crap out of my CRT and I would not give it up for anything. And it makes my Games look alot smoother. I believe all this crap we hear about LCD are not as good is crap. You just need to be willing to spend a bit more.

    Thats the one I was looking at maddog...

    Basically, I get a voucher for x dollars, and I am able to down grade a decent PC to about 1/2 x dollars, taking the other half (w/ a 20% coupon) and buying the LCD screen. Basically: get a 2000 system for about 515 and a 900 monitor for 200 out of pocket I'll go w/ the 20 inch then. 940 bucks mins 20% =762 or so...about 200 of which I actually have to pay for
