    Heh, uh help?

So I kinda installed windows XP over my mom's Windows 98 and it wont recognize they keyboard or mouse, I was alerted that I needed to format before I installed. Unfortunately I cant get to a c: prompt to format as I'm just able to get into the setup before windows by hitting DEL. So I'm kinda wondering how I get to a c: prompt before windows boots up.

u must go to somwhere they have win 98 or 95 and on c emulator create a startup disk then opne the menu whit del and on the first menu search for the startup options, then chang the first boot sector for the drive A: and the second for C:

then reboot and u will have the lovely C:>\ on a black screen

Boot to your WinXP disc if you can. If not, go to microsoft.com and download the six-floppy XP boot disc. Then go to recovery mode. It's similar to the DOS prompt and works the same way.

It takes six floppies because XP is designed to be a bootable CD-Rom, but some computers can't boot from CD, so they have to preload a lot of files for the computer to be able to run the WinXP installation anyway. In any case, yes. It is very dumb.

just boot from winxp cd, the 6 disc thing is an incredible suck!

if you cant boot from disc, maybe you dont need winxp anyway!

but yeah, see if you can goto bios and set first boot device to the CDROM.
then you should be able to format from the CD, and reinstall
