It's also the fact that you can't offend yourself. A white person can call himself or another white person a hick, honky, or white trash... a black person can call himself or another black person a nigga (or other form of the word), porch monkey, or any other slur... so on and so forth... when you cross that line, regardless of it's intentions... it's perceived as offensive and racists.

Ive been called a cracker and all that plenty of times, and im not offended. I was a slave just as much as any black man my age, so i think that they have lost their right to act like its life altering to be called such a word. In a world where minorities most certainly have an unfair advantage over "white people" for getting jobs, scholarships, and into harder schools, i sick of hearing it.

Racism is everywhere, towards whites, blacks, hispanics, asians. Why does it only make the news when a black person is called a nigger instead of a nigga.

your saying that you would only care if the intent was cruel. Well the intent from this teacher didnt seem to be cruel, he just seemed like he was trying to fit in with times not realizing that times have not changed at all

Coincidentally, an old episode of "Mind of Mencia" was on last night, and there was a segment talking about the difference between the word "nigger" and "niggah". He did street interviews of people (white, black, hispanic, etc.), asking if they thought either word was appropriate and why. Method Man was one of the people interviewed, and it pissed me off how he (and a few others) said that it's perfectly fine for a black person (and maybe hispanic people) to say "nigger" or "niggah", but it's NEVER ok for a white person to say either.

I never use the word nigger, or any other racial slur. However, it's very damn stupid, to me, to completely bar a race from saying that word, even if they mean it in a friendly/joking manner, while saying it's ok for another race to use it. If you don't want the word to be used by someone in a derogatory manner, then quit using the word, altogether.

And I'm all for taking back Porch Monkey. (again, Clerks 2).

i am exposed to more black people that are jobless and uneducated then i am the opposite. So from my experience i cant help prejudging people.

I try not to tho, and if i do i dont show any outward signs of it, and certainly dont say anything derogatory
