OK so recently my hd died and i got a new 1. After installing everything again i put wc3 on. Every time i play the game my computer restarts. Anyone know what could be causing this?

Your HDD may have died because of a power surge, meaning your PS has been affected. Check your PS as well as all the components in your system.

if you overclocked your vid card, you might try reducing the clock, maybe even going back to the stock speeds.

oh yeah, what tass said too ;p

power supply tester.

Or, if you know what you're doing, a simple voltmeter, though I wouldn't recommend the latter if you aren't 100% sure of what you're doing.

But if you are having intermitent power supply failures a volt meter might not show anything being wrong.

well i bought a new power supply, and they didnt help. But i am rebuilding my comp and i needed the power supply anyway. Any other ideas why it restarts?

My old comp used to overheat when I played any long movies. I took the side panel off and put a fan next to it. You might only need to reseat your cpu with some good thermal paste.

Does it restart as soon as you run it or do you get to play a while (giving it time to overheat) and then it restarts?

Since it's a fresh install after a format I don't see what it could be, unless you had a 5gb HD heh...

its not overheating because i had the problem with my old case last year. I think it might be my mobo, becuase my old case chared a piece of it :-P. The game does run for a little bit before it restarts. It does the same thing with knights of the old republic but not with counter-strike.
